Obituary of Walter Lee Hughes

Walter Lee Hughes, 88, passed away peacefully in his home in Clewiston, Florida on May 26, 2023.  He was born June 14, 1934 in Nashville, GA to the late JR and Cora Belle (Lewis) Hughes.  He enlisted in the US Navy when he was 17 years old and is a veteran of the Korean War.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean (Varnadore) Hughes, his daughter Sandra Lee Hughes and his sister Latrelle Watson.  He leaves behind a son Donald Wayne Hughes (Diana) and a daughter, Shari Lynn Hughes.  He had 11 grandchildren; Brooke Bryant, Daniel Bacallao (Nikki), Mercedes Vazquez-Walker (Charles), Daniel Hughes, Ashley Gamroth (Justin), Erika Vazquez (Neri), Lauren Hughes, David Hughes (Jensen), Jared Bacallao (Tori), Bryan Bacallao and Brittany Bacallao (Andrea) and 19 great grandchildren.
