Obituary of Ana Maria Cordero

Ana Maria Cordero of Barnegat, New Jersey was born in Vega Alto, Puerto Rico on June 11, 1943 and moved to The Bronx at the age of 2. Ana met her husband, Juan Cordero when she cheered for a local baseball team. They were married on October 20, 1962. They had three daughters; Wanda, Vivian, and Lisette. After moving to Barnegat in 1975, Ana started her own child care business. She was fondly known as “Grandma” to many of the children. In 1985 she formed a group called Latinos Unidos for Spanish Citizens, so they can get to know and preserve their culture. She was instrumental in starting the first Spanish Language mass at Saint Francis Church on Long Beach Island.

Ana is survived by husband; Juan, daughter; Wanda Lopez and Lisette Cassidy, six grandchildren; Mark, Anthony, Rickie, Nicholas, Zachary, Ethan, two great grandchildren, her two sisters; Carmen Inez Rafael and Alice Rodriguez. Ana was preceded in death by her daughter; Vivian Anderson and one granddaughter; Loren Lopez. The family called her “Sonia”.  Ana will be missed and always loved.
