My heartfelt condolences to the family of Tommy O'Ferrell. I remember well this close, caring family and the efforts they made to make the community a better place. I saw while teaching at LaBelle HS just how much they cared for each other. Mr. O'Ferrell was a man that deserved respect.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. No words were ever more true than the Bessemer community where we grew up. There were the O'Ferrells, the Lowdermilks, The Clendenans, the Hilliards and many more wonderful caring families. We worked together, we played together and we cared for each other.
I am confident that the gates of heaven opened wide on the 13th and welcomed Tommy. He was an inspiration to me as I struggled with my melanoma and the associated treatments. GOD bless you Tommy.

Tommy was a school friend: we both played football, enjoyed hi-jinks at the swimming hole, and graduated from Bessemer HS. It was good to talk to him recently. He will be missed.
