Obituary of Helen L Whobrey

Helen L Whobrey, age 79, of LaBelle, passed away September 10, 2018 in Fort Myers. Helen was born October 9, 1938, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Willie and Rea (Tucker) Royalty. She married James Cornell Whobrey; he preceded her in death. Helen was a barber, operating Helen's Barbershop for many years and later she and her daughter, Paul operated Helen and Paula's on South Bridge Street. Helen was a strong-willed woman, who never said I can't. Survivors include three daughters: Debbie White, Paula Cockram and Tammy Landrum, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two brothers; Larry Royalty and his wife Diana and L.D. Royalty and his wife Susie. Helen was also preceded in death by her son; James Michael Whobrey on January 14, 2017. Celebration of Helen's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Pavilion of Ortona Cemetery, where Pastor Lester Grant will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Akin-Davis Funeral Home - LaBelle. Burial will be next to her son, James Michael Whobrey. Arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home - LaBelle.
