Sweet memories flood my soul.
Rusty was 5 years younger than
me. We both love the outside; any kind of nature adventure was
right up to our liking. As children Rusty, Randy, Jeff & Mindy coming to see us was a real treat for me. When they would be coming to see us down on the farm I knew we were going to have a good time. Life was good. Rusty was one of a kind. Very special memories. May we all treasure time spent together.

My brother Rusty was a true Libertarian, an over the top conservative and a “free will” radical. He always surprised me at the depth of his knowledge of books, and seemed to read everything, fiction, classical literature, history, and religion.
I hear the sound of my brother’s voice, a deep southern baritone without a hint of drawl that was intense, amused and instantly recognizable. He loved telling stories, whether from a book he’d just read or an adventure he’d just gotten home from, and frequently a combination of both. The stories were so funny that his own laughter would start a wave of hysterics long before we ever got to hear the end. We will miss him.

My condolences and sympathy to the entire Barnett family. He had to be a wonderful man to be Cynthia's father - and teach her a love for the land and nature.
May you be comforted by your memories and the God of compassionate presence.

My favorite memories are road trips with my dad to visit Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings's home in Cross Creek. All road trips start in the wee hours of the morning and include breakfast at a truck stop. Rusty loved old Florida and its nature, architecture, and literature. Some of his favorite books were Cross Creek by Rawlings, A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith, and The Barefoot Mailman by Theodore Pratt.
