Obituary of Joseph Thomas Potkanowicz

Obituary for: Joseph Thomas Potkanowicz, Sr Joseph Thomas Potkanowicz returned to his Heavenly Father on April 10. H was born December 16, 1931 to the late Joseph F and Anna Radzik Potkanowicz. A graduate of South High School he went on to receive hi Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University. While at Ohio Northern he was a member of Theta Kappa Phi Fraternity and Newman Club. Upon graduation he worked at Valu Drug and Giant Eagle Pharmacy. He retired in 1995. He was a former member of Holy Family Church in Poland, Ohio and a current member of St. Stanislaus Church in Youngstown. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus Poland Council and the Poland National Alliance. He leaves behind a loving wife of 50 years Annette Zajac Potkanowicz, 4 children, Vicki (Scott) Williams of Mooresville, NC, Joseph J. (Leslie) Potkanowicz of Fort Collins, CO, Paula (Sam) Sadi of St. Louis, MO, Jack (Amber) Potkanowicz of Toledo, OH, as well as 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Thomas Pitkin, Edward and Bernard Potkanowicz, sisters, Rose Sakela, Agatha Belyseur, Helen Kazy and Sophie Sosnowski. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. It was his desire to donate his body to Science for teaching purposes and scientific research. He gave in death for those in life. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in his memory to the College of Medicine, Anatomy Teaching, 4209 State Route 44 Box 95, Rootstown, Ohio 44272.
