Obituary of Norman E. West

Norman West, age 91, recently of Ortona, passed away February 3,2021 in Lake Placid. He was born February 6,1929 in Edwardsville, Illinois to Fareld Norman West and Anna Pauline (Fleming) West. Norman and his wife of 69 years, Virginia, who died in 2017, enjoyed more than 30 yrs as residents of "Turkey Creek" where they indulged their love of boats and the water. Annual trips to the Bahamas and excursions along the west coast of Florida provided many pleasant family memories. Norman was a lifelong educator, starting as an English and Latin teacher in the high school of Bensenville Illinois. He would eventually serve as principal of Fenton High School in that community, and then of Wauconda High School for a few years before his "retirement" to Florida. Norman and Virginia were the proud parents of four sons who survive them: Phillip (Susan), Kevin (Tammy, deceased 2018), Marc (Patricia), and Eric (Dawn). Norman was beloved by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. No services are planned. Friends may remember Norman with a contribution to the charity of their choice.
