LaBelle, FL 33935-5072 RE: Obituary: Leroy Miners Jr. Date of Death: June 13, 2010 ____________________________________________________________________________ Obituary for: Leroy "Roy" Miners, Jr. Leroy "Roy" Miners, Jr., age 82, of LaBelle, passed away June 13, 2010 in Fort Myers. He was born Nov. 20, 1927 in Lyons, GA, son of the late Leroy Miners Sr. and the late Bessie Mae (Usher) Miners. Leroy was a veteran of the Air Force and served in WWII. He was a longtime resident of LaBelle and was a member of the Church of God-LaBelle where he served on the church council. Leroy was owner-operator of thirty-three grocery stores over his lifetime. He is best known for being the builder and owner of Miners' Plaza located at the beach cutoff and still known to this day as Miners' Corner. Survivors include his wife: Maggie Miners of LaBelle, children: Doug Miners, Debbie Tillman (Kenny) of LaBelle, Pamela Ham (Greg) of Franklin, TN and Greg Miners (Delia) of LaBelle, brother: Curtis MIners (Ruth) of Fort Myers, sister: Beatrice Rollins of Lyons, GA Grandchildren: Chris Gnagey, Chad Gnagey, Lee Miners, Shannon Miners, Kate Ham, Rachel Ham and Brandon Miners and eight great-grandchilidren. Funeral services will be held Wed. June 16, 2010 at 10:00 am at Church Of God-LaBelle, Highway 80, LaBelle with Rev. Harold Hanks, Bishop Cliff Gobble and Pastor L.W. Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Memorial Park, Fort Myers. Visitation will be tonight from 06:00-08:00pm at the Church of God-LaBelle. Arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home - LaBelle.
