Obituary of June Youtsey Bridges

June Youtsey Bridges, age 85, of Ft. Thomas, KY and Ft Myers, FL passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2013. She had been under the care of Hope Hospice at the Larsen Pavilion located at the Shell Point Retirement Community, Ft. Myers, FL. She was born June 2, 1927, at Speers Hospital in Dayton, KY to Charles and Catherine (nee Schweitzer) Youtsey. Her father predeceased her in 1942 and her mother in 1979. She was also predeceased by her two sisters; Mildred Downard in 1999 and Evelyn Baker in 2001. Additionally, June was also predeceased by her husband William "Bill" Clark Bridges, Jr. in 1999. June was raised in Alexandria, KY and graduated from Highlands High School, Ft. Thomas, KY in 1945 as class valedictorian. She attended Miami University in 1945-46 where she was active in the Delta Gamma Sorority. She received her B.S. in Education from the University of Cincinnati in 1958. Initially, June was a high school teacher at Campbell County High School, Alexandria, KY from 1954-57. Later, she taught for 24 years at Highlands High School, Ft. Thomas, KY from 1958 to 1982. She was married to her husband Bill, also of Ft. Thomas, KY, for 52 years until his death in October 1999 in Ft. Myers. June and Bill had moved to N. Ft. Myers after their retirements in 1982. In N. Ft. Myers, June and William lived initially at Lake Fairways and later at Herons Glenn. June was an avid golfer and shot a hole-in-one 3 times while in Florida. Later, in Ft. Myers, June and Louis E. Moore, Jr., also of Ft. Thomas, KY, were dear companions until his death in 2005. June lived at the Shell Point Retirement Community in Ft. Myers from 2006 until her passing. Survivors include her son; W. Charles (Susan) Bridges of Naples, FL and Marblehead, MA; granddaughters Courtney Bridges and Sarah Bridges of Marblehead, MA; and nieces Teri Biermann of Lake St. Louis, MO and Debra Downard of Charlotte, NC. Additional survivors include sister-in-law Dorothy Anne (Bridges) Christianson and her husband Rev. Lyle Christianson of Arden Hills, MN; nephews David (Catherine) Christianson of North Oaks, MN and Paul (Laura J. Smith) Christianson of Shoreview, MN; and nieces Rev. Diane (John Tolson) Christianson of Winterville, NC and Janet (Gary) Johnson of Minneapolis, MN. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the chapel at Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate Kentucky. Cremation Arrangements by Akin-Davis Funeral Home of Ft. Myers, FL. Memorial Service Arrangements by Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home of Ft. Thomas, KY.
