Phelan, 78 passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 19, 2010. She was a long time resident of Immokalee. She moved from Homestead, to work at the Clinic in 1975. She later worked as a Correctional Officer at H.C.I. and then at the Hendry County Jail. She was born June 12, 1931 in Belleville, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Carrie Jessup. She will be missed by her family and many friends in the community. Survivors include her husband: Claude "Sarge" E. Phelan, step sons, Steve Phelan of NV; Joe Karban of IL, one grandchild, and three great-grand children. Cremation took place at Caloosa Crematory in LaBelle.
