Obituary of Mary Rhoda Planty

On August 14th 2010, Mary "Rhoda" Planty was called from this life to join God's angels in Heaven. Her final days of earth were spent at the Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida surrounded by her comforting family and friends. Rhoda lost the battle of ovarian cancer after a difficult struggle for nearly two years. Rhoda was born in Bruston, NY to Francis and Helen Wood and moved to FL in 1998 with her husband Stanley. She spent most of her adult in the nursing profession caring for others. Most recently, she was the manager of the Robin's Nest for nearly 10 years. Rhoda was a very loving and compassionate woman who touched so many people in her own special way. She enjoyed gardening, reading, music, and serving others. She was very active in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moore Haven as the food pantry manager feeding nearly 175 families per week. She is survived by her husband Stanley of Labelle FL, four children: Wayne Goyea Jr. of Cedar Hill Mo, Marilyn Esmond of Glens Falls NY, Roger Goyea of Cedar Hill MI, and Gregory Goyea of Tucson AZ. She had 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A service was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Aug 17th. Donations in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the Hope Hospice in Cape Coral Fl.
